Summary
“The Naked Maja” is a 1958

romance between the painter Francisco Goya and the Duchess of Alba, is based on
a novel by the American writer Noel Gerson and directed by Henry Koster. In
this film, Ava Gardner starred as the Duchess of Alba and Anthony Franciosa as
Francisco Goya.

1. “The Nude Maja” is the first in a two painting series, and the second is “The Clothed Maja”. The Nude Maja, was a kind of blasphemous paintings at the time. In 1813, the Spanish Inquisition confiscated the painting as obscene and returned it to the Academy of Fine Arts in 1936, after Goya's death.
