How are
you?
This week's
lecture is “Environmental Music”, the 11th topic of “New Age Music”, which is a summary of the contents of “84.
New Age Music: 11. Environmental Music” introduced on
April 22nd, 2017.
Environmentalism is a philosophy, ideology, and social movement dealing with concerns about environmental protection and environmental improvement. It protects humans and various plants and animals through the preservation, restoration and improvement of important earth system elements such as the natural environment and climate.
The first song on environmental topics was "Woodman! Spare
that Tree!" created in the 19th century by George Pope Morris and Henry
Russell.

Environmentalism
has been one of the major themes in music since the 1940s.
In the early 1970s, “Environmental Music” was born in new-age music field, and it was greatly developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s by the pioneer of this field, Bernie Krause.

The musical feature of this genre is that it is made by
sampling the sounds of nature such as the sounds of birds in forests, streams,
waves and wind, and Samuel Reid's “Sanctuary Series” is a representative music
of this genre.

was supported by many musicians around the world, including Barenaked Ladies,
