Summary
"Final Portrait" is a
2017 drama film written and directed by Stanley Tucci. The film had its world
premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 11, 2017.
In Paris 1964, the famous sculptor
Alberto Giacometti meets his old friend and American critic, James Lord, and
asks him to be a model for his portrait in his studio. Satisfied with the
request, Lord complies, and he is told that only two days are needed to paint
the portrait. But two days later, Giacometti asks Lord that the model continue
for another week. Lord is busy and has to go back home, but he delays his
departure and patiently helps Giacometti for his work.

2. Alberto Giacometti was born in
Borgonovo, now part of the Switzerland province of Bregaglia, near the Italian
border. He was a descendant of a Protestant refugees who had escaped the
Inquisition.

Man" sold for $126 million, a sculpture auction record, in Christie's
auction in New York on May 11, 2015.

4. The filmmakers carefully
recreated Giacometti's studio, using archive photos and footage. The Giacometti
Foundation in Paris helped make the film, on the condition that all artworks
created for the film would be destroyed after filming was completed.

5. The portrait of James Lord sold
for $20,885,000 in November 2015, according to Christie's website, an art
auction house. The painting was called "James Lord".
