Summary












"Final Portrait" is a 2017 drama film written and directed by Stanley Tucci. The film had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 11, 2017.

In Paris 1964, the famous sculptor Alberto Giacometti meets his old friend and American critic, James Lord, and asks him to be a model for his portrait in his studio. Satisfied with the request, Lord complies, and he is told that only two days are needed to paint the portrait. But two days later, Giacometti asks Lord that the model continue for another week. Lord is busy and has to go back home, but he delays his departure and patiently helps Giacometti for his work.

Summary











"The Best Offer" is a 2013 English-language Italian psychological thriller film written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. The film stars Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Sylvia Hoeks, and Donald Sutherland, with music by Ennio Morricone.

The film tells a story of love and deceit, set in Europe, the world of ultra high-end art auctions and antiques. The story revolves around Virgil Oldman, an old, wealthy, and respected but eccentric, managing director of a prominent auction house. Oldman is hired by a mysterious young heiress Claire Ibbetson, to auction off the large collection of art and antiques to her by her parents. Claire, who suffers from severe agoraphobia, never leaves her room and always refuses to meet people in person. But she decides to trust Oldman, who suffers from obsessive–compulsive disorder. Oldman, a lifelong bachelor who can empathize with her reclusiveness, realizes that he has fallen in love with her.

The film received mixed reviews on various movie review sites, including Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.

1. Geoffrey Rush learned the piano until the age of 14. He took piano lessons again 30 years later for this film, and he conducted his performances without using hand double.

2. According to Scott Hicks, the film title "Shine" was inspired by Pink Floyd's song "Shine on you crazy diamond", written in honor of Syd Barrett, who was their first band leader and another musical genius suffered from mental illness.
