How
are you?
The
8th place I would like to introduce for this week is The Los Angeles County
Museum of Art (LACMA) in Los Angeles in the United States.
LACMA is an art museum located on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile near Los Angeles. Founded in 1961 by splitting from the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art, the museum moved four years later to the Wilshire Boulevard complex designed by architect William Pereira.
The museum's wealth and
collection increased in the 1980s, and several buildings were added in
following decades. In 2020, four buildings were demolished to make room for a
reconstructed facility designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. However, his
design aroused strong community opposition and was criticized by architectural
critics and museum curators, objecting to its reduced gallery space, poor
design, and exorbitant costs.
LACMA
is the largest art museum in the western United States, with nearly one million
visitors annually. With a collection of more than 150,000 works from ancient to
modern art history, LACMA not only exhibits artworks, but also hosts film
screenings and concerts.
The
works of Modigliani currently in the possession of LACMA are as follows.
Thank
you.
