Summary
“Midnight in Paris” is a 2011 fantasy comedy-drama film written and directed by Woody Allen. Set in Paris, the film follows a screenwriter Gil Pender, who is forced to confront his materialistic fiancée and their different goals, which becomes increasingly exaggerated as he travels back in time at midnight every night. This film explores the subjects of nostalgia and modernism. Premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, the film was released in the United States on May 20, 2011. Praised by the critics, the film is considered one of Allen's best films and won Academy Award and Golden Globe Award in 2012.
