The title in the UK and US, “La Vie en Rose” came from Piaf's signature song. Cotillard received several awards for this film, including the Academy Award for Best Actress (the first Oscar winner for a French-language role).

1. Director Olivier Dahan noticed that the eyes of Édith Piaf and Marion Cotillard were similar, so before he had even met her, he wrote the script with Marion Cotillard in mind as Édith Piaf.


2. This film made Marion Cotillard the first French actress to win an Oscar for a French-language film.


3. It is the third highest-grossing French-language film in the United States since 1980, following Amélie (2001) and Le pacte des loups (2001).
