When a Film Ends, Its Emotions Continue
Some films stay with us long after the screen goes dark. We remember
a particular glance, an unspoken feeling, a quiet moment of longing, or the
possibility that two people might somehow find their way to each other.
These lingering emotions are the inspiration behind “Music After
the Film,” an original music series by J Music that explores the
feelings and memories awakened by cinema.
For the twenty-second installment, I turned to Nora Ephron's
1993 romantic film “Sleepless in Seattle,” starring Tom Hanks and Meg
Ryan. Rather than revisiting the film's existing soundtrack, I wanted to create
an independent instrumental composition that expressed what might remain in our
hearts after the story ends.
The result is “Where Dreams Find Us”
The piece begins with a delicate piano melody, intimate and
reflective, like a quiet night spent thinking about someone who has not yet
entered our life. Warm strings gradually emerge, adding tenderness and
emotional depth. As the music develops, the atmosphere becomes more luminous,
suggesting that distance and uncertainty may eventually give way to a
meaningful encounter.
The final moments return to a quieter musical space, leaving the
listener with a gentle sense of nostalgia and possibility.
I invite you to listen to “Where Dreams Find Us” in a quiet
moment, perhaps late in the evening or when the world feels a little slower.
