Amedeo Modigliani is remembered as one of the distinctive artists of early 20th-century Paris.
But behind his elongated portraits and unforgettable artistic style
was another story — the story of his relationship with Jeanne Hébuterne.
I recently created my first Udemy course, “Listening to
Masterpieces: Amedeo Modigliani,” to explore this story in a different way.
Rather than creating a conventional art-history lecture, I wanted to
combine:
• Modigliani’s paintings and artistic world
• The story of Modigliani and Jeanne Hébuterne
• Storytelling
• Female narration
• And 10 original musical compositions that I wrote specifically for their
story
The result is an artistic drama in which art, music and storytelling
come together.
The course follows their journey from their meeting and love to
separation through death and the idea of an eternal reunion.
This project has been particularly meaningful to me because the
music was composed specifically for Modigliani and Jeanne.
