Summary
“Camille Claudel 1915” is
a 2013 French biographical film written and directed by Bruno Dumont. The film
premiered in competition at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. This
film is the story of Camille Claudel, who was Rodin's disciple, lover, and
unfortunate artist blinded by Rodin's shadow despite her natural talents.
Juliette Binoche, one of the leading French actresses, played Camille Claudel
in this film.

Plot
At the end of her career as an
artist, the sculptor Camille Claudel is suffering from mental problems. She
destroys her own statues and utters repeatedly that her ex-lover, Auguste
Rodin, intended to make her life miserable. Eventually, her younger brother
Paul sends her to a mental hospital outskirts of Avignon. While Claudel lives
with insane patients, she tries to convince her doctor that she is perfectly
sane. She is desperate to see her brother Paul again, hoping that he will
eventually support her plea.
