Tintoretto was an Italian painter who was born in 1518 and died on May 31, 1594, and one of the representative figures of the Venetian school.

His contemporaries both admired and criticized for the speed which he painted and his unprecedented bold brushwork. Because of his phenomenal energy in his paintings, he was called Il Furioso ("The Furious").
His work is characterized by
muscular figures, dramatic gestures and bold use of perspective in the style of
mannerism, and "Paradise" is the best work of his life.

In 1594, he had severe stomach pain, along with fever, that was unable to sleep and eat for almost two weeks, and eventually died on May 31, 1594.
He was
buried in the church of the Madonna dell'Orto by the side of his favorite
daughter Marietta, who died in 1590 at the age of 30. He painted her last
portrait when she died.

but currently few of her works are traceable.

Tintoretto had very few pupils, and his two sons and Maerten de Vos of Antwerp were among them. His son, Domenico Tintoretto, often helped his father in the preliminary work for great paintings.
